Stella Celebrates National Astronaut Day

Because of Higher Orbits, I have had the opportunity to meet the incredible Mr. Tony Antonelli during the 2022 Space Coast Go For Launch!. This program was already such an amazing experience but was made even better with the presence of Mr. Tony Antonelli.

During the program, he gave a presentation on his past work discussing his work in the U.S. Air Force as well as his experiences at NASA. He was a pilot on the STS-119 mission as well as the STS-132 mission. The students attending the program had the opportunity to ask questions and hear what it was really like to be a part of two missions to the International Space Station.

Along with his presentation, he served as a mentor throughout the program. His advice helped make my team’s, Team Laika, project the best it could possibly be. Our goal involved attempting to improve life on the International Space Station for astronauts and he gave us incredible insight into what might need to be changed to create the best results. Having Mr. Antonelli as a mentor for the entirety of the program was a dream come true as he is an
inspiration to me and many others. He instilled confidence in the attendees and encouraged us to reach for the stars!
