4-H Student Team Set to Launch their Experiment into Space
through Higher Orbits

Higher Orbits Galactic HQ – Feb. 22, 2023 – Through a partnership with 4-H, Higher Orbits winning team of
Go For Launch! 4-H In Space, will have their experiment flown to the International Space Station.

"Participation in the Higher Orbits Go For Launch! camp was an amazing experience for all of our 4-H members from the 4-state collaboration. It was a perfect fit for 4-H and the 4-H pledge. Each 4-H member pledges their head to clearer thinking - this was required throughout the camp for team challenges, their heart to greater loyalty - teamwork was integral, their hands to larger service - proposed experiments sought to gain valuable knowledge, and their health to better living for their club, community, county, and world…” said Stacy DeVeau, M.S. Ed., 4-H Program Coordinator of the Yavapai County Cooperative Extension.

Throughout Go For Launch!, students explore STEM and space topics while working on a viable experiment design that could be successfully researched in space. This independent event brought together 4-H students from the states of Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, and Florida.

Our winning team of Go For Launch! 4-H In Space, team Space Goats, consists of Krish Nangia, Cove Searle, Celine Torkzad, and Nolan Williams. Their experiment will look at the effects of microgravity on the growth of spirulina in space.

“It was certainly my pleasure to work with these future architects of our space industry. They will shape our country’s future in space,” said featured Astronaut of Go For Launch! 4-H In Space, Jim “JR” Reilly.

Team Space Goats’ experiment is being developed in partnership with Higher Orbits payload integration partners Space Tango and is anticipated to launch on board SpaceX CRS-27.

“We are thrilled for team Space Goats and truly grateful for this partnership with 4-H that allowed all their participating students to experience this opportunity,” said Michelle Lucas, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Higher Orbits.

Team Space Goats’ experiment will be flying with three other Go For Launch! student experiments aboard SpaceX-27, bringing the grand total of experiments sent to space from this program to 17.
