Dr. Michael Hagenberger is the Associate Dean for Facilities and Capital Planning and a Professor of Practice in Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering at The Ohio State University, holding a Ph.D. from the University of Texas, Austin, a M.Eng. from Cornell University and a B.S. from Bucknell University.
Dr. Hagenberger joined the academy after nearly 10 years of industry experience where he worked for LERA and Geiger Engineers designing and managing projects such as arenas, stadiums, convention centers and museums.
Dr. Hagenberger’s research focus has shifted from structural engineering to the pedagogy of teaching engineering and community engaged learning. Currently his work focuses on developing an intercultural and entrepreneurial mindset in students enrolled in STEM disciplines. He initiated the Sustainable Resilient Communities program at The Ohio State University in 2014. This program is focused on leveraging university resources and talent to develop a network of partners that are focused solving societies complex issues while educating the next generation of students to have an impact in the sustainable development domain.
