Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by space. The idea of exploring the unknown and making discoveries beyond our planet has always inspired me. But turning that passion into something real isn’t easy, especially without the right opportunities. That’s where Higher Orbits came in.
I had the incredible chance to participate in Higher Orbits' "Go For Launch!" program, a multi-day event designed to inspire students through space exploration. This experience was unlike anything I had ever been part of before. Not only did I get to work alongside fellow students who shared my passion for STEM, but I also got to collaborate with industry professionals and even astronauts!
My team, Team Laika, developed an experiment studying the effects of microgravity on methanotrophic bacteria. And here’s the most exciting part: our project was selected to be sent to the International Space Station! Seeing something my team and I created actually go to space was beyond my wildest dreams.
I’ll never forget this experience. Higher Orbits didn’t just give me the chance to work on a real space project—they gave me confidence, teamwork skills, and a community that believes in pushing boundaries.
Higher Orbits does more than just teach students about science and space—it changes lives. By bringing students into hands-on projects and connecting them with astronauts and industry leaders, Higher Orbits fuels the next generation of innovators, scientists, and explorers.
If you care about the future of space, science, and education, this is the organization to support.
Join the Galactic Golf Outing 2025
One of the best ways to support Higher Orbits is by attending their upcoming Galactic Golf Outing on May 13, 2025, at The Glen Club in Glenview, IL. This isn’t just any golf event—it’s a chance to meet astronauts Gregory H. Johnson and Mike Foreman, enjoy great food, take home some awesome swag, and participate in live and silent auctions. Plus, all proceeds go toward Higher Orbits programs like "Go For Launch!"
You don’t have to be a golfer to make a difference. If you believe in inspiring young minds and shaping the future of space exploration, this is your chance to get involved.
For more details or to sign up, check out the event page: Galactic Golf 2025.
If you can’t attend, you can still support Higher Orbits by making a donation. Every contribution helps fund life-changing programs that give students like me the opportunity to turn dreams into reality.
Higher Orbits has had an enormous impact on my life, and I know they can do the same for countless other students. Whether you donate, attend the golf outing, or simply spread the word, you’ll be helping young people like me reach for the stars, literally.
