Space Unicorns in The Soo

For those of you who were paying attention during our event in Sault Ste. Marie, you might have been wondering what the heck was up with the unicorn that kept popping up… Well let me tell you…

In case you hadn’t noticed, we love things to be fun… and unusual at times… and well, let’s be honest, I also love things that are sparkly (okay sparkles aren’t everyone’s jam and that’s ok but I do love them!) so when I found out there’s a unicorn connection at Lake Superior State University (LSSU)… I was IN!

Now I have you really stumped, a University and a Unicorn connection… WHAT?! They are connected by more than just the U at the beginning of each 😉

I have to admit, I wasn’t the one who discovered this, one of my nearest and dearest did, but one I found out… game on!

LSSU has a history of Unicorn Questing!

I was entranced when I found this and of course had to immediately apply for my license. My questing was certainly to be a quest of befriending and photographing these out of this world wonderful creatures.

But you know me, and you know how I love a theme, so of course I had to see what things exists that were space and unicorns and to my delight there were many! Of course there’s the iconic graphic everyone knows of an Astronaut on a unicorn but I was hoping for something different. I found some cosmically cool pins as well as coloring books, so I of course procured those for the Go For Launch! event at LSSU.

Since I was able to find a space unicorn pin that fit with Higher Orbits branding, it of course became part of my attire for the week! And naturally I brought some space unicorn pins for others too!

A blue unicorn suddenly started appearing around the event. This unicorn was inspired by the students, as were all of us! The unicorn wondered if it would be possible to fly to space with the student experiments and spent a lot of time checking out the student experiment box!

Both Jeff and I were granted our Unicorn Questing licenses, and we encouraged the stellar students of Go For Launch! to do the same.

I am a big fan of anything that brings more joy to the world… so let me encourage you, go on a unicorn quest… it’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your day!!
