Sophie’s Thoughts Before IAC 2024

This week, I am honored to have the incredible opportunity to attend the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Milan, Italy!

As a student ambassador for Higher Orbits, I am beyond excited to be part of such a prestigious global event, where the brightest minds in space exploration and research come together to share insights, discoveries, and visions for the future. Having previously attended events like SciTech and ASCEND, as well as attending IAC back in 2019, I look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new pioneers who have shaped the space industry.

I’m especially thrilled to attend sessions featuring leaders from agencies like NASA, ESA, and JAXA. This year's theme, which focuses not only on innovation and collaboration in space but more importantly, attaining and maintaining sustainability, hit all the significant points that align with my aspirations as I shape my academic and career paths in engineering and research. I can’t wait to listen to the keynote speeches, including those from prominent figures in aerospace and research who continue to inspire next-generation youth like me.

This experience is not only a chance to learn but also an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with professionals shaping the future of space. I am particularly eager to highlight the importance of mentorship—a cornerstone of my journey thus far. It’s truly an honor to represent Higher Orbits, and I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity to explore new horizons, exchange ideas, and dream big alongside such a brilliant community.

As always, so grateful and proud to represent Higher Orbits, this time in Italy!!! See you at IAC 2024!
