Maricopa Institute of Technology Set to Host ‘Out of this World’ Higher Orbits Program Go For Launch! Phoenix this March

Higher Orbits Galactic HQ – Feb. 15, 2023 –  The Higher Orbits team and retired NASA Astronaut Don Thomas are excited for GFL! Phoenix at STEM college preparatory high school, Maricopa Institute of Technology.

"MIT is excited to host Go For Launch! for the first time in March 2023! MIT looks forward to bringing another aspect of the STEM world to its surrounding community. Opening up the eyes of young students to the world of space exploration and inspiring scientific inquiry is exactly why Go For Launch! is coming to MIT," said Katie Cox, Headmaster of Maricopa Institute of Technology.

The hands-on flagship program of Higher Orbits spotlights the wonders of spaceflight and space exploration to provide students across the country the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills in STEM, teamwork, communication, research design, and leadership. While focusing on spaceflight, Go For Launch! students work alongside a featured astronaut at each event to learn and develop important skills that can be applied in any professional field.

“I’m so excited to be working with another group of amazing students at Go For Launch! Phoenix. I can’t wait to see what experiment designs this group comes up with and I’m looking forward to sharing my spaceflight experiences with all of them. It’ll be a great weekend,” said Go For Launch! Phoenix featured Astronaut Don Thomas. Open to students in grades 8 through 12, Go For Launch! Phoenix will be held March 18-19, 2023. Interested students can register online at: https://higherorbits.org/go-for-launch/

“Space Inspires! Higher Orbits is over the moon to be back in Arizona and thrilled to explore the wonders of space with stellar students in the Phoenix community with our host partner MIT,” said Michelle Lucas, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Higher Orbits.

Higher Orbits is also grateful for the support provided by their Diversity and Inclusion Coalition Arianespace, Burns & McDonnell, Iridium, and their organizational partner OBAP.
