HIGHER ORBITS TO HOST GALACTIC GOLF TOURNAMENT IN GLENVIEW Golf With Astronauts to Support STEAM Programs for Students

GLENVIEW, IL — Higher Orbits is set to tee off at The Glen Club on Tuesday, May 13, for its annual Galactic Golf Outing, a fundraiser supporting the Go For Launch! Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) program that offers students the opportunity to work with an Astronaut and compete to have their ideas sent to space. This year’s Galactic Golf event features two former NASA astronauts—Mike Foreman and Greg H. “Box” Johnson.

Foreman served as a Mission Specialist on Space Shuttle Missions STS-123 and STS-129, while Johnson piloted both the STS-123 and STS-134 Space Shuttle Missions. The astronauts will hit the greens with participants to help inspire the next generation of STEMists and explorers.

“This golf tournament has been fabulous in the past, and this year will be no exception in Chicagoland,” said Astronaut Greg Johnson. “Higher Orbits continues its important mission of inspiring and coaching students through hands-on STEM projects, camps, and events. It’s always fun to join my friend and former crewmate, Mike Foreman, for a great day of golf supporting an even greater cause!”

Golfers of all skill levels—including individual players, corporate teams, and space enthusiasts—are invited to register. Participants will enjoy the opportunity to golf alongside the two astronauts, plus receive space-themed refreshments, food and beverages throughout the day, exclusive swag, access to a silent auction, and more. A reception-only ticket option is also available for those who prefer to join the fun off the fairway.
