Higher Orbits Galactic HQ – May 26, 2022 – Higher Orbits is bringing Go For Launch! to Sault Ste Marie, MI thanks to stellar sponsor MiSTEM Network and Series Sponsor Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association (MAMA).

Last June, Higher Orbits touched down in Michigan for Go For Launch! Alpena, their first event of the MAMA Series. The Higher Orbits team and Go For Launch! program is scheduled to touch down in Traverse City and Shelby Township for the final two events of the MAMA series. The winning experiment will be picked from amongst the 4 events to be launched to the International Space Station.

“Talent development and retention are critical to Michigan’s space industry future and that is why we are happy to support Higher Orbits STEM outreach program. Engaging Michigan youth in an interactive, dynamic learning setting to spark their interest to being part of America’s space program, is essential to our state’s success being a Space state,” said Gavin Brown, Executive Director of the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association.

The hands-on flagship program of Higher Orbits spotlights the wonders of spaceflight and space exploration to provide students across the country the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills in STEM, teamwork, communication, research design, and leadership. While focusing on spaceflight, Go For Launch! students work alongside a featured astronaut at each event to learn and develop important skills that can be applied in any professional field.

Open to students grades 8 through 12, Go For Launch! Sault Ste Marie will be held June 14-16, 2022 at Lake Superior State University, the host partner for this event. Interested students can register online at: https://higherorbits.org/events/go-for-launch-sault-ste-marie/
