Go For Launch! Lands in Alabama on National Moon Day Next Week

Higher Orbits Galactic HQ -- July 12, 2022 – Higher Orbits will launch its final event of the BRPH Series, Go For Launch! Alabama, next week running July 20-22, thanks to stellar support from their Series Sponsor.

“We're excited to support Higher Orbits again this year! The competition gives students a fun opportunity to explore emerging technologies in space sciences and engineering, exercise their creative muscles, and experience the process of collaborative design alongside astronauts and industry professionals," said Priyanka Valletta, P.E., Civil Engineer and Aerospace Project Manager for BRPH.

The hands-on flagship program of Higher Orbits spotlights the wonders of spaceflight and space exploration to provide students across the country the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills in STEM, teamwork, communication, research design, and leadership. While focusing on spaceflight, Go For Launch! students work alongside a featured astronaut at each event to learn and develop important skills that can be applied in any professional field.

As Higher Orbits launches their third event of the BRPH Series, it will mark their first Go For Launch! in Alabama which will take place at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.

“STEM education is a main focus at HMCPL so we are thrilled to partner with Go For Launch! Offering Rocket City teens firsthand learning experiences with astronauts and space industry professionals is a fun and interactive way to serve our STEM-loving community,” said Sarah Sledge, Branch Manager at Madison Public Library.

Go For Launch! Tucson and Go For Launch! KSCVC, the first two events in the BRPH Series, have resulted in two qualifying teams. These teams will compete against the winner of Go For Launch! Alabama. The winning experiment will be picked from amongst the 3 events to be launched to the International Space Station.

“Space Inspires! We are grateful for the support of BRPH allowing us to bring this series of events to students across the country,” said Michelle Lucas, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Higher Orbits.

Higher Orbits is also grateful to stellar sponsors Teledyne Brown Engineering and Jacobs Space Exploration Group for helping make Go For Launch! Alabama possible.

The Diversity and Inclusion Coalition of BRPH, AIAA, Burns & McDonnell, Dunmore Aerospace, Iridium, Paragon SDC and organizational partners, OBAP play an appreciated and impactful role in Higher Orbits’ ability to work with students across the country.

Open to students grades 8 through 12, Go For Launch! Alabama will be held July 20-22, 2022 at Huntsville-Madison County Public Library, the host partner for this event. Interested students can register online at: https://higherorbits.org/events/go-for-launch-alabama/ . Financial aid is available to students who need assistance to be able to attend this event.
