Hi everyone!
My name is Faith Bergin and I am about to graduate in December with my bachelor’s in physics from Purdue University. I participated in the 2018 Denver Go for Launch. My team made it to the final selection process but was unfortunately not chosen to be launched. However, I have kept in contact with Higher Orbits and Michelle ever since!
This conference opportunity is once-in-a-lifetime. The Von Braun Symposium is one of the top gatherings for aerospace professionals to come together. Being allowed to attend was a pinch-me moment! Many thanks to Michelle and the Higher Orbits team for connecting me and allowing me to put myself out there as an almost college grad and early career professional.
I am excited, but also incredibly nervous. As a physics student, I live in the science world, not the engineering world. I’ll admit to you readers that I am feeling incredibly out of my element. Purdue is one of the largest engineering universities in the world, so it is not unusual for me to be a small physics speck in a sea of engineers. This time, I am actively going outside my comfort zone and attending a conference on a subject I don’t know a lot about. I am excited for the adventure and of course, excited to see what I can learn. I am walking into the week with an open mind and an open heart. I look forward to writing later about my experience. I can’t wait!
