Emma’s AIAA SciTech 2026 Experience

Walking into AIAA SciTech felt like stepping straight into the future, my future and then realizing I actually fit there. From the time I arrived, I could see that SciTech was not just another conference, but a place where big ideas, curiosity, and a shared love for aerospace all come together. Being in that environment as a student, especially being a freshman in high school, was both intimidating and exciting at the same time, in a way that made me want to learn more rather than step back. This conference did more than just inspire, but it also motivated and pushed me to truly explore every opportunity I am given.

One of the most impressive parts of SciTech was the amount of opportunity everywhere. There were technical presentations, panels, and conversations happening constantly, all focused on new research and advancements in aerospace. Some of the topics were challenging, but that was part of what made the experience so engaging. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I felt encouraged to think deeper, ask questions, and actually challenge myself. SciTech didn’t feel like a space where students were just observing—it felt like a place where we were invited to participate. Even though I was on the younger side of the conference, I was still treated as a peer and it made it so that I had the capability to absorb all the opportunities in full

The people I met were just as impactful as the content. I was able to connect with professionals, researchers, and other students who are all passionate about aerospace. These were connections I would not have been able to make without this opportunity. Hearing about different career paths and personal experiences helped me understand how broad and flexible the aerospace field really is. It made the idea of working in such a huge STEM feel less distant and much more achievable.

SciTech also helped shape how I see my own future. Being surrounded by motivated and driven individuals made my interest in aerospace feel stronger and more real. It showed me that aerospace is not just about aircraft or space missions, but about problem-solving, teamwork, and constantly pushing limits of the world we live in today. The conference helped me realize how much impact this field can have and how much room there is to grow within it. Even though I do want to go into astrophysics when I am in college, it shows just how much every corner of the world of science and aerospace has to offer.

I want to talk again about how Higher Orbits helped me grow in the world of science. Without Higher Orbits, a lot of the opportunities I have been presented with, would not have been possible. The whole of Higher Orbits has truly been the most influential thing of my life. Being with Higher Orbits at the conference taught me a lot about connections, and it also introduced me into the world of public speaking on panels!

Overall, AIAA SciTech was an amazing and influential experience. It fully immersed me in the world of aerospace, gave me confidence in my goals, and motivated me to keep challenging myself academically. I left SciTech inspired, grateful, and excited about what comes next.
