This trip was a one in a life time experience for a 13 year old. As a 13 year old I was the youngest one at the conference witch is a amazing feeling. On this week long adventure we did extraordinary things like talk about Super Sonics and to CEOs.
This journey started for my dad and I months before the actual trip with planing our days at the conference. The first couple times we look at the program we were amazed at how many panels and speech’s happen daily at this conference.
The weeks leading up to the conference consisted of us making and practicing my speech. This part of the experience was one of my favorites because my dad and I grew our relationship greatly.
The first two days of the conference were hectic but what really got me excited about this trip. This first day we sat through our first panels of the week learning about supper sonic flight with turbine engines and super sonics with other countries. The people we heard from were people who play a big role in this industry one was a professor who is one of the most cited book and paper righter in the industry.
The morning of the speech was a nerve-racking morning. I had many thought of messing up or not being prepared for questions. After worrying about not doing well we did amazing we got ask some good and well thought out questions. This day ended early for me when I started drifting off to sleep in a panel later that afternoon.
The last day of space related activities was Thursday Were we want to Kennedy space center. Kennedy space center is on my top 10 list of places I need to revisit. Kennedy was a never ending interactive learning experience. Seeing the second out of Three Saturn five rockets was the highlight of that day, followed by seeing the space craft Atlantis and memorial for all of the space shuttle astronauts.
This trip will live with me for the rest of my life. The people I met will be lifelong friends and family. As a 13 year old I hope I persuade other youth to follow my step and fight for what they dream of doing what they love in the aerospace and astronautical industry.
I would like to thank space mom (Michelle Lucas), the Higher Orbits team, Higher Orbits, Abi, Pepper, Valentina, Daniel, my dad, my mom, and anybody who supported me on this journey.
