PATASKALA – At some summer camps, young attendees play games and try to avoid getting poison ivy.

The recent Go for Launch! camp was not one of those.

Held at Watkins Memorial High School, the three-day camp allowed youngsters to work alongside and question a NASA astronaut and sharpen their STEM skills while also completing a project that could, if selected, be launched into space to the International Space Station.

In short, it was educational — and fun.

This marked the first time Watkins Memorial hosted the esteemed summer program.

Watkins Middle School math teacher Alisha Sleeper hopes it is not the last.
