Since taking part in the first Go For Launch! event in Nogales, Arizona, Higher Orbits has been an instrumental part of my life and has significantly broadened my interests within the space sector. From that point onward, I have had the privilege of sending legumes to the ISS in a CubeLab to observe their development in microgravity, which stands out as one of the most memorable, impactful experiences of my life. It gave me the chance to collaborate with others, deepen my understanding behind this type of research, and learn from the results of an experiment that we all conducted with careful effort.
While this field of study is known as astrobotany, attending the ASGSR (American Society For Gravitational Research) conference last December illuminated how many diverse disciplines, careers, and technologies converge to create opportunities for advancement in space. If it were not for Higher Orbits, I would not have had the same support and opportunities to recognize, explore, and truly value that.
That is one reason I am especially excited for Arizona Space Rising 2026. This event brings together leaders from industry, academia, and government, and I am genuinely thrilled to learn more about the ideas, plans, and next steps being taken for Arizona’s trajectory in the space sector. I am especially looking forward to meeting others and hearing from people with unique perspectives, professions, and aspirations, because I firmly believe everyone has a vital role to play. Additionally, some other aspects I am most eager to be part of are engaging in interactive experiences, learning firsthand from those crafting Arizona’s space strategy, and understanding how I, along with others, can contribute, especially as progress like Artemis II inspires us all to imagine and take action for what is next.
As someone from Arizona, this event feels even more special to me. Beyond its arid landscapes and clear skies, Arizona is emerging as a hub of immense potential in the space industry. When I was younger, I loved stargazing in my backyard and visiting the Grand Canyon in the fall, taking in the vast landscape and the starry night sky above it. Now, it is incredible to think this same place can help lead long-term research, innovation, and exploration.
I am especially looking forward to meeting others involved with Higher Orbits. The program has been a meaningful source of inspiration for me and has encouraged me to keep looking forward, stay open-minded, and cherish every step of the journey.
Countdown to Arizona Space Rising 2026!
