Go For Launch! Tucson

Go For Launch!

BRPH Series

Open to students in grades 9-12 (including rising 9th graders.) Students must attend both days of the event. The dates on here now are just placeholders so the event stays visible until we have new dates.

During this challenging time when many students may be missing classes we hope that our Go For Launch! program can provide (once safe to do so) much needed STEM, teamwork, and communication engagement. Should we need to change the dates of a program due to this constantly evolving situation, we will reschedule not cancel. We are committed to supporting all these stellar students.

When you register for this event you will notice that there are multiple payment options. The rack rate for this event is $300 per student. We know that during these challenging times, financially some folks need a bit of assistance. As such, we have created a “Pay What You Can” option where you can select the payment level that you can afford for your student to attend this event. We are committed to supporting your students and this is one way we hope to do so. (Are you a company that would like to help support this? We actually don’t have the proper funding to be able to offer this option and very much could use some sponsor and/or donor support. Please contact us if you’d like to help.)

Michelle Lucas

Michelle Lucas

Michelle Lucas spent 10+ years working at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. First as part of the International Space Station (ISS) Payload Safety Review Panel (PSRP) and then in the Mission Operations Directorate as a Flight Controller in ISS Mission Control and as a Astronaut Instructor in the ISS Daily Operations Group. Additionally she worked with each of the International Partners (European Space Agency – ESA, Japanese Space Agency – JAXA and the Russian Space Agency) in the field of Daily Operations, Flight Controller and Instructor Training. Michelle was part of the Core NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO) team for 9 missions where astronauts would carry out analog space missions underwater in the Aquarius habitat. Along the way, Michelle found she has a passion for launching the next generation’s dreams and ambitions. Her passion for inspiring students led to extensive work with other organizations in STEM outreach so she founded the non-profit Higher Orbits to use space to excite and inspire students about STEM, Leadership, Teamwork and Communication. Michelle is proud to be a Space Camp Alum, AIAA Associate Fellow, and member of the Space Camp Hall of Fame. She believes that collaboration in space and STEM is the key to the stars! Space Inspires!
